Genesis Chapter 6

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, my Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh; yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Giants

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also, after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Giants:

  • Numbers 16:26-33 (read the whole chapter)
  • Deuteronomy 2:8-11; Deuteronomy 2:8-10 (TALL)
  • Deuteronomy 2:18-23 (read the whole of Deuteronomy chapter 2)
  • Deuteronomy 3:11 (notice the measurements of Og, king of Bashan’s bed)
  • Deuteronomy 3:13 (…”called the land of giants”)

Note:  TALL appears twice within Deuteronomy chapter 2

sons of God:

  • Job 1:6
  • Job 38:7
  • Daniel 3:25

  • Men began to multiply
  • Sons of God saw the daughters of men
  • Sons of God chose wives from mankind, resulted in the birth of giants
  • Mankind’s heart was evil continually
  • Earth was corrupt and filled with violence
  • Noah walked with God

Genesis 2:21-25       Adam and Eve together became “one-flesh”.

Genesis chapter 5 - genealogy

Genesis 6:1 multiplication of mankind

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repenteth the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD; and it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at his heart.

Definition:

Repented:  Grieved because He had made man on the earth.

Question:

Why was God’s heart grieved?

GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Note: “Grieved” and “repenteth” mentioned twice.  Wickedness of man of man was great on the earth.  God called man and woman Adam, which means man (Genesis 5:2).

Only one righteousness man within this scriptural passage of Genesis chapter 6.

  1. Who was he?
  2. What were his qualities?

These are the generations of Noah, Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  Genesis 6:1-12 (KJV)

Only one righteous man on earth - Genesis 6:8

Questions:

Only one righteousness man within this scriptural passage of Genesis chapter 6.

  1. Who was he?
  2. What were his qualities?
  3. Who else “walked with God” before the time of Noah (as recorded within the Holy Bible)?  Enoch (not the Enoch born to Cain, but his brother Seth’s descendant) Genesis 5:22-24

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)
