According to II Peter 1, we should to add to our faith. We should add virtue to our faith. It is necessary that our faith be empowered by the Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28). Yahshua’s apostles had to wait on their empowerment. Before the disciple’s empowerment, they daily walked with the LORD, in other words they followed Him, following Yahshua means denying self of worldly lusts; thus placing ourselves in position to be empowered by the Holy Spirit of the MOST HIGH GOD, Creator of the Heavens and the earth.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. The world passes away, and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of GOD abides forever. I John 2:15-17 (KJV)

Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our GOD, for He will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my Ways higher than your ways and my Thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and return not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater. So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void, it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:11-21 (KJV)
