A Prayer of King David

A Prayer of King David

Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness; and enter not into judgment with thy servant, for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. The enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me and my heart within me is desolate.  I remember the days of old, I meditate on all thy works and I muse on the work of thy hands. I stretch forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsts after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails, hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning, for in thee do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies.

I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my GOD, thy Spirit is Good; lead me into the land of uprightness.  Quicken me, O LORD, for thy Name's sake, for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.   And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul, for I am thy servant.  Psalms 143:1-12 (KJV)

  • Psalm 142

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)
