YHVH’s Response to King Solomon’s Prayer in chapter 6

II Chronicles 7:14

And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people,

If my people, which are called by my Name

  1. shall humble themselves, and pray,
  2. and seek my face,
  3. and turn from their wicked ways,

then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my Name may be there forever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments, Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

If ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them, Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this House, which I have sanctified for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

And this House, which is high, shall be an astonishment to everyone that passeth by it; so that he shall say, why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
And it shall be answered, because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them.  Therefore, hath He brought all this evil upon them.

II Chronicles 7:12-22 (KJV)

Psalm 34:17

Prayer of Praise & Testimony

I will bless the LORD at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his Name together.

I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto Him and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.
O fear the LORD, ye his saints;
for there is no want to them that fear Him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Come, ye children, hearken unto me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.  What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

  1. Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
  2. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

  1. He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken.
  2. Evil shall slay the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
  3. The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants, and none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate.  Psalm 34:1-22 (KJV)

Psalm 50:1-23

The Mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.  Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him.

Question:

Who, what, where is Zion?

Zion is known as the city of David, which is Jerusalem (I Kings 8:1).  Zion is also Mt. Zion (II Kings 19:31); More background regarding Zion:  I Chronicles 11:1-9; Zion is in the land of Israel.

Psalm 50 Cont’d

He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens shall declare His righteousness; for God is judge himself. Selah.
Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee.
I am God, even thy God. I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.  I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds, for every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains; and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High; And call upon me in the day of trouble, I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. But unto the wicked God saith, what hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

  1. Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my Words behind thee.
  2. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
  3. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
  4. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself; but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.   Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the Salvation of God. Psalm 50:1-23 (KJV)

Psalm 145

I will extol thee, my God, O King;

and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy Name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another and shall declare thy mighty acts.
I will speak of the glorious honor of thy
majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy Great Goodness and shall sing of thy Righteousness.

  1. The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion;
  2. Slow to anger, and of great mercy.
The LORD is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.
  3. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.
     They shall speak of the
Glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy Power; To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His Kingdom.

Thy Kingdom is an Everlasting Kingdom, and thy Dominion endureth throughout all generations.

The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
The LORD is
Righteous in all His ways, and holy in all his works.

The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
He will
fulfil the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.
The LORD preserveth all them that love Him, but all the
wicked will He destroy.

My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD; and let all flesh bless His Holy Name for ever and ever.   Psalm 145:1-21 (KJV)

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)
