Prayers and Praises 11/19 Background Study: II Chronicles 7-14 Read and Study; II Chronicles chapter 6:21-42 and notice King Solomon’s “if” clauses) YHVH’s Response to King Solomon’s Prayer in chapter 6 II Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my Name
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my Name may be there forever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments, Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel. If ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them, Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this House, which I have sanctified for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this House, which is high, shall be an astonishment to everyone that passeth by it; so that he shall say, why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house? II Chronicles 7:12-22 (KJV)
Prayer of Praise & Testimony I will bless the LORD at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his Name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto Him and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. Come, ye children, hearken unto me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
The Mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him. Question: Who, what, where is Zion? Zion is known as the city of David, which is Jerusalem (I Kings 8:1). Zion is also Mt. Zion (II Kings 19:31); More background regarding Zion: I Chronicles 11:1-9; Zion is in the land of Israel. Psalm 50 Cont’d He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High; And call upon me in the day of trouble, I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. But unto the wicked God saith, what hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself; but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the Salvation of God. Psalm 50:1-23 (KJV)
I will extol thee, my God, O King; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy Name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another and shall declare thy mighty acts.
Thy Kingdom is an Everlasting Kingdom, and thy Dominion endureth throughout all generations.
The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
