 Grow in Grace

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in Grace, and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be Glory both now and for ever. Amen2 Peter 3:14-18 (KJV)

Question:

What is “longsuffering”?

Read and Study:

2 Peter 3: 1-18

Questions:

  • What was the purpose of 2 Peter chapter 3?
  • What is the rest of the paragraph regarding “knowing this first”?
  • What does the previous paragraph record regarding the awesomeness of YHVH’s creation, and its ultimate fate?
  • What is the “one thing” that Apostle Peter does not want his readers to be ignorant?

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?  Answer is recorded in verse 14.

  • What “things shall be dissolved”?

  • What is written in verses 17-18?

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)

The Conclusion: Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
YHVH has spoken in these last days by whom? Hebrews ch. 1
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5 (KJV)
