Continuous Prayer June 2018

Continuous Prayer

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and said unto the disciples, sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith He unto them, my soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Prayer: Phase One

He went a little further, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. He cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation, the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Prayer: Phase Two

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

Prayer: Phase Three

He left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then cometh He to His disciples, and saith unto them, sleep on now, and take your rest; behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; behold, he is at hand that doth betray me (Matthew 26:36-46) KJV

Question: Why did Yahshua need to pray three times within a small span of time?

First of all, Yahshua's hour of trial was before Him, prayer was needed and required to keep the weakness of His flesh in subjection to the "will" of His Father, namely, the One True and Living GOD. Yahshua quoted to His disciples to "watch ye and pray, that ye enter not into temptation".

Question:  Why worry about temptation/adversity/an experience of evil at such a time as mentioned within this passage of the Book of Matthew?

"The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak". Again, weakness/strengthlessness/feebleness of the flesh is the answer, as to why we should continuously pray. As we look within the Book of John , the Words from Yahshua's mouth was enough to knock the soldiers down (John 18:4-7) However, this was not the way Yahshua was to respond to His captors, it was also not written for Yahshua to fight against His captors, however in prophesies regarding His second appearance on earth, He will be known as the KING of Kings and LORD of Lords!

Note:  Yahshua gave us (Believers)  the REMEDY to ward off weakness of the flesh. Can you imagine the blatant disregard toward the Son of the Living GOD being disrespected by those of whom He created? If Yahshua had not been persistent and consistent in prayer, well I would not be here writing this message and neither would the people reading this message.

Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5 (KJV)
