Love According to the Holy Bible

Yahshua Teaches His Disciples

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love.  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants, for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth, but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my Name, He may give it you.   These things I command you, that ye love one another.   John 15:9-17 (KJV)

What is the Greatest Commandment?

Hebrew Scriptures:

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; I am the LORD.  Leviticus 19:18 (KJV)

Hear, O Israel, The LORD our God is one LORD; And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (KJV)

New Testament:

When the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the Great Commandment in the Law?

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind; This is the first and Great Commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 22:34-40 (KJV)

Yahshua Teaches his Disciples Regarding Love in the End Time

Take heed that no man deceive you; many shall come in my Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, see that ye be not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.  All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my Name's sake. Then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many; because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.   And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.  Matthew 24:4-14 (KJV)

John, a Disciple of Yahshua, Teaches Regarding Love

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of his Spirit.  We have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.

Question:

Is there fear in love?  According to the Holy Scriptures, the answer is no!

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; because fear hath torment. He that fears, is not made perfect in love.  We love Him, because He first loved us.   If a man say, I love  God, and hates his brother, he is a liar.  He that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

And this commandment have we from Him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.

1 John 4:7-21 (KJV)

What does the Holy Scriptures Say Regarding Love for Enemies?

What is the Love of God?

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth Him also that is begotten of Him, by this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.  Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?  1 John 5:1-5 (KJV)

Sounding Brass or a Tinkling Cymbal

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

  • And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

  • And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,

  • and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

What are the Attributes of Love

  • Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
  • charity envieth not;
  • charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
  • Doth not behave itself unseemly,
  • seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
  • Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
  • Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
    Charity never faileth:

Whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.  When that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. Now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known.  Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (KJV)

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  John 3:11-21 (KJV)
