Intercede for Others Part II
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. This is good and acceptable in the sight of YHVH our Savior, who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. There is one GOD, and one mediator between GOD and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. I Timothy 2:1-6 (KJV)
Questions:
Who is exhorting whom? Why is it necessary to pray for those in authority? It is the YHVH’s will that all be saved. What does John 3:16-18 state? Jesus Christ stated that He is the Way, the Truth and ________?
Clue: I & II Timothy are Pastoral Epistles (letters)
Definition/s:
Intercessory Prayer: Praying for others (see John 17). In the year 2016 and beyond, consistently pray for others. Ask the LORD to place people on your heart, and when He does began praying for them.
Consider what Yahshua stated to Peter
The Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Luke 22:31-32 (KJV)
The Prayer of Faith shall save the sick and the LORD shall raise him up. (James 5:15)
In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously. It came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux, to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. (Acts 28:7-8) KJV Read: Acts chapter 28 Note: Healing is a gift (I Corinthians 12:9) from YHVH to His people. Paul, the Apostle was ordained by Jesus Christ to take His message to the Gentiles. Once converted, Paul ran zealously and was very effective i.e. preaching, teaching, healing.
Question:
What were the circumstances as to how Apostle Paul came to know Publius and his father?
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee
I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the House of the LORD. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together. Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the Name of the LORD. There are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, peace be within thee. Because of the House of the LORD our God I will seek thy good. (Psalms 122:1-9) KJV
Gift of Healing: Believe & Receive Healing
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas; this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did. It came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died; whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. Forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. She opened her eyes and when she saw Peter, she sat up. He gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive; and it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord. (Acts 9:36-42) KJV
Note: Yahshua told His disciples that they would do greater things (by the power of the Holy Spirit). After the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit, they were empowered to do many wondrous miracles.
